Why we still run a 35mm print when we can

A struck 35mm print has real, visible grain, occasional cue-mark flicker at reel changes, and a warmth in the highlights a digital scan tends to iron out even when the scan itself is excellent. None of that is nostalgia dressed up as an argument — it’s a genuinely different object being projected, and for a house built around repertory rather than first-run, the difference is the point.

We run digital where a surviving print doesn’t exist or won’t survive another threading. We run the print everywhere else.
