A rare 70mm print of Lawrence of Arabia arrives in October

70mm prints are heavier, wider, and far less forgiving of a misthreaded platter than 35mm — the format simply carries more film per minute of screen time (112.5 feet per minute against 35mm’s 90), which means more physical film moving through the gate, and less margin for error at each reel change.

Our booth crew has been rehearsing changeovers on a junked 70mm work-print for three weeks. One performance only, 18 October.
